Soccer remains undefeated with Salem/Guilford Classic Sweep

Winston-Salem, NC- The Salem College soccer team swept the Salem/Guilford Classic with 2-0 wins at Guilford and at home against Southern Virginia to finish undefeated in non-conference play. Salem improves to 4-0 overall, while Southern Virginia is 2-2 and Guilford is now 1-1.

On the road at Guilford, Salem got on the lead late in the first half with a goal by Sydney Priest on an assist by Alyssa Denkovich. The Spirits scored again in the second on a Brooke Bukas goal from Martha Santos. Salem out shot Guilford 17-8 and had a 5-1 corner kick advantage. Kimmi Templeton and Hannah Wagner split time in goal for the shutout.

Salem earned their third straight shutout with a 2-0 home victory against Southern Virginia. Jordan Lanier scored in the 23rd minute. Chaniece Moss scored her first collegiate goal five minutes later on a Santos assist. Salem held a 21-7 shot advantage and 8-1 corner kick advantage. Wagner earned the win in goal.

The Spirits will play their first ever USA South game Friday at Maryville.
