Soccer earns four important road points

Demorest, GA-The Salem College soccer team played their first three USA South matches on the road against the top three teams from the west division in the preseason coach's poll. Salem won in a thrilling double overtime game at Maryville 2-1, lost 1-0 at Covenant, and tied the defending USA South Champions at Piedmont 0-0. The Spirits are now 5-1-1 overall, and 1-1-1 in the USA South. 

Salem fell behind 1-0 early at Maryville, before Brooke Bukas scored a second half goal to send the game to overtime. With just 44 seconds left in the second overtime, Chaniece Moss finished a Mary Ormsby pass to give Salem the thrilling win.

On Saturday, the Spirits traveled to play Covenant. The Scots were able to score early, and despite several opportunities, Salem was never able to tie the match. 

Salem traveled to defending USA South Champions on Tuesday and earned an important road point in the 0-0 draw. Hannah Wagner played all three games in goal for the Spirits. 

Salem will host their first ever home USA South game this Saturday at 2:00 against Agnes Scott.
