Soccer defeats USA South rival Agnes Scott

Winston-Salem, NC-The Salem College soccer team defeated Agnes Scott 4-1 in their first ever USA South home match. Brooke Bukas scored twice to secure the win for the Spirits. Salem improves to 6-1-1 overall and 2-1-1 in the USA South, while Agnes Scott falls to 4-2-1 and 2-1-1.

Salem got the scoring started early when Hannah Huskey headed in an Alyssa Denkovich corner kick in the 15th minute. The Spirits would open up the game in the second half. Jordan Lanier gave the Spirits a cushion in the 62nd minute on a volley off of a cross by Mary Ormsby. Bukas scored her first goal in the 78th minute on an Ormsby assist and then scored again a couple minutes later. Agnes Scott scored a goal with less than a minute remaining in the game.

The Spirits play again at home today against Georgia Wesleyan at 2:00.
