Soccer wins 2-0 against Maryville to improve to 15-1-1

Winston-Salem, NC-The Salem College soccer team clinched a first-round USA South Tournament bye and home-field advantage in the quarterfinals with a 2-0 win against Maryville today. Brooke Bukas scored the game-winning goal in the 74th minute. Salem improves to 15-1-1 overall and 11-1-1 in the USA South, while Maryville falls to 8-6-1.

After an even first half, Salem started to get more chances in the second half. Bukas received a pass from Maddie Crumpton and struck a finish into the upper corner. Kylie Dillow gave Salem insurance 8 minutes later on a pass from Jasmine Romero.

Salem held a 16-8 shot advantage and the 2 teams each had 3 corner kicks. Hannah Wagner earned the shutout in goal.

Salem hosts Covenant tomorrow at 4:30.
