(FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.) - After the completion of the regular season today, the seeding for the 2016 USA South Women's Soccer Tournament has been determined. The tournament consists of the top-six teams each division in the Conference and is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, October 26 with first round contests hosted by the divisional third and fourth seeds. The top-two divisional seeds receive first round byes and will host the quarterfinals on Saturday, October 29. The semifinal and championship games will be played at the site of the highest remaining divisional seed after quarterfinal round play on Friday and Saturday, November 4 and 5. If the highest-remaining divisional seeds are the same seed, the tournament semifinals and final will head to the East due to a predetermined rotation.
Seeding for the tournament is determined by a point system. Each Conference win is equal to three points while each Conference tie is equal to one point. Due to the cancellation of contests in the East Division due to Hurricane Matthew, seeding in that division is determined by a formula calculated by taking the total points each team has earned and dividing that number by the amount of Conference contests played by that institution. This formula will not be used in the West Division due to the fact that the maximum amount of Conference contests (14) were played by all institutions in that division.
