Soccer sweeps two games and honors seniors

Winston-Salem, NC-The Salem College soccer team swept two conference games this weekend with 3-0 wins over both Greensboro and William Peace at home. The Spirits celebrated eight seniors on Sunday in the win over William Peace. The Spirits are currently 9-2 overall and 3-0 in the USA South. 

Salem defeated Greensboro 3-0 on Saturday. Jordan Lanier scored the first goal on an assist by Alyssa Denkovich in the 52nd minute. Ellie Montes scored the second goal in the 76th minute on a Brooke Bukas assist, and 4 minutes later Bukas scored on an unassisted goal. Salem out shot Greensboro 16-6 and had a 2-1 corner kick advantage. Hannah Wagner earned the shut out in goal for Salem.

Prior to the game against William Peace, the Spirits celebrated their 8 seniors with a ceremony. These seniors were Brooke Bukas, Kylie Dillow, Jordan Lanier, Sydney Priest, Jasmine Romero, Cassie Smoot, Kimmi Templeton, and Grace Young.

Both Bukas and Dillow scored goals against William Peace, while Lanier and Young had assists. Bukas scored in the 9th minute on an assist by Lanier. Dillow scored in the 25th minute. Maddie Crumpton scored in the 41st minute assisted by Young. Salem held a 33-2 shot advantage and 13-0 corner kick advantage. Hannah Bullock earned the shut out in goal.

Salem returns to the road on Wednesday to play Pfeiffer.
