Soccer wins 6th straight regular season title after win over Averett

Winston-Salem, NC-The Salem College soccer team clinched the number one seed in the USA South East Division as they won their sixth straight conference regular season title. The Spirits defeated Averett 4-0. Salem is now 6-1 in the USA South and 13-2 overall, while Averett falls to 3-8-2 overall.

Brooke Bukas got the scoring started very early as she scored in the first minute on an assist by Jordan Lanier. Lanier scored two goals in the first five minutes of the second half to break the game open. Her second goal was assisted by Alyssa Denkovich. Ellie Montes capped off the scoring in the 84th minute.

Salem held a 13-0 shot advantage and 12-2 corner kick advantage in the win. Hannah Wagner and Hannah Bullock split time in goal for the shutout. 

The Spirits will now wait to see who they will host in the quarterfinals of the USA South Tournament on October 28th.
