The North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA) announced its selections for the 2017 College Division All-State Women's Soccer Teams on Wednesday. Twenty-two players from 10 different North Carolina institutions were named to the College Division All-State Teams.
Coming off a 12-3-3 campaign and an appearance in the second round of the NCAA Tournament, Queens led the way with four selections overall, including two on the first team. UNC Pembroke put three players on the All-State teams, while Chowan, Johnson & Wales, Lenoir-Rhyne, Meredith, Pfeiffer, Salem and Wingate each had a pair of players honored. Brevard put one player on the distinguished list.
Danielle Doyle of Johnson & Wales, Alana Jefferson of Queens, Jordan Lanier of Salem and Taylor Leyble of Wingate were named as the first-team midfielders.
A second-team All-USA South East Division pick, Lanier scored a team-high 10 goals and registered seven assists in 17 games for the Spirits.
The NCCSIA All-State second-team is comprised of Lenoir-Rhyne's Abbie Brown and Abigael McGarel, Pfeiffer's Cayci Eaton and Tori Jackson, Queens' Thea Mallet and Charlotte Ring, Chowan's Olivia Borer, Meredith's Jessica Wallace, Salem's Sydney Priest, UNC Pembroke's Christine Rolfes and Wingate's Kimmi Moore.
Nominees were submitted by North Carolina sports information professionals and voted on by the NCCSIA members.
Founded in 2002, The North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA) is comprised of sports information professionals from NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA and independent institutions from the state of North Carolina. The purpose of the organization is to promote collegiate athletics at all schools. Membership is open to anyone affiliated with a college, university or conference located in North Carolina, and whose area of responsibility lies within sports information.
