Salem Soccer Soars Past Guilford 4-1

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Salem College soccer team cruised to a 4-1 win over the Quakers of Guilford College Tuesday afternoon in front of the home crowd.

First Half

The majority of the first half was a battle for momentum as both teams pushed the pace of play higher and higher. Each team trying to gain the edge as the minutes ticked away. Ten minutes until the halftime break, it was Salem who would gain the edge. Brianna Monroe would claim her first goal of the season and the 1-0 advantage would carry into the break.

Second Half

Hannah Huskey would be first on the board in the second half putting Salem up 2-0 on a penalty kick. Amanda Rojo was next off a pass from Hope Morrison as Salem moved further ahead at 3-0. Maddie Crumpton was the final scorer for the Spirits as she hit the net with 11-minutes to go. Guilford would score their only goal in the final three minutes off a penalty kick. 

Salem Standouts

-Salem's shooters were showing their strength today with 18 more shots than the opposition.
