Spirits Fall to Greensboro College

Greensboro, NC: Salem traveled to Greensboro Saturday, October 13th as they faced the Greensboro Pride in a USA South Conference match up. The Pride opened up the score line of the game when McKaley Boston put one in at the 9-minute mark. The game went back and forth until the second of Greensboro's goals came at the 32nd minute when Alexis Chase got a ball over the top to slot it in the Spirits back post.   

The Spirits fought for the rest of the half and finished the first half 2-0 down to the Pride.

In the second half both teams struggled to get many chances until the 78th minute when Sydney Moss made it 3-0 for Greensboro from a header off corner. The Spirits didn't stop their fight and answered back with a late goal in the 89th minute from Alyssa Denkovich as she finds the bottom Corner of the Pride's net in a beautifully taken free kick. Salem did not give up until the final whistle as they created a couple more chances with just 45 seconds remaining on the clock!

Top performer Alyssa Denkovich scored Salem's lone goal of the game. 

Salem will face Pfeiffer University in their next Conference match up on Wednesday, October 17th, which will also be their Senior Day as we will celebrate Seniors Madeline Crumpton, Katie Fretwell and Hannah Huskey
