Salem Celebrates Seniors in Final Regular Season Home Game against Pfeiffer

Salem faced Pfeiffer University in a USA South conference match up this past Wednesday, October 17th on their home field as it was Senior Day. The Spirits celebrated their three seniors Madeline Crumpton, Katie Fretwell and Hannah Huskey. The Falcons were hard on the attack in the first half, only allowing Salem to get one shot off. Salem's defense held up strong until the 36th minute when the Falcons' Meredith Manson found a through ball to Cayci Eaton who slipped one in on the fast break. 

Salem held the Falcons off to finish the first half down 1-0 .

Right out the gate in the second half, the Spirits' Hannah Huskey played a ball over top the Falcons back line to find Ellie Montes who put one away at the 46th minute mark. Lighting a spark in the Spirits attack for the second half. The Falcons did not back down, soon answering with another goal from Mackenzie Pruitt in the 70th minute on a fast break down the field for a 1 on 1 to goal. Kelsy Esquivel scored another goal for the Falcons in the 89th minute. 

The Spirits fought hard until the final whistle ending the game with a 3-1 loss to the Falcons.

Top performers of the game were Hannah Huskey winning 50/50 balls in the mid-field and Ellie Montes for scoring the lone goal for the Spirits.

Salem will travel to William Peace for their last regular season conference game on Saturday October 20th.
