Decatur, Ga. — Salem first year Darilyn Nieto single-handedly delivered the Spirits to their fourth victory of the season with a four-goal performance at Agnes Scott in a 4-1 win in Decatur, Ga., on Sunday, September 18th.

Nieto's four-goal outing is tied with Sawyer Ferguson for second-most in a single-match in program history. Ferguson accomplished the feat on October 18, 2013 versus Judson. That was shortly after her teammate Tarryn Bundy had netted five goals against Wesleyan (Ga.) on September 28, 2013.

Also instrumental in the win for Salem was senior Alexcina Wartski, who had five saves in 66 minutes in goal for Salem. Wartski claimed her first win of the slate, and Mireya Sanchez, who spent 23 minutes in net, limited the Scotties to just one goal.

Nieto began her scoring barrage just 32 seconds into the match when she found the back of the net on an unassisted goal. Just over 22 minutes later, following a pass from Olivia Nivens, the Greensboro, N.C., native extended Salem's lead to 2-0 with her second goal of the game.

Agnes Scott sliced the lead in half with an Iris Ray strike in the 25th minute, making for a 2-1 Spirits lead at the intermission.

Nieto tacked on her third goal of the game 17 minutes into the second half, again on an unassisted strike, resulting in a 3-1 Salem advantage. She added her fourth goal of the match four minutes later, driving home her 10th goal of the season, in unassisted fashion.

Salem finished the game with 18 shots (10 shots on goal) with Nieto attempting seven shots (four shots on goal). Alyson Gammons had three shots (three SOG) while the duo of Cristina Battistini and Nivens came through with two shots apiece.
