LYNCHBURG, Va. – The Salem soccer team completed its three-match eight-day stretch of road matches with a 2-0 setback to Randolph in Lynchburg, Va., on Saturday, September 9th.

The WildCats scored their first goal in the eighth-minute, on an unassisted strike by Madison Booker, before tacking on an insurance goal in the 57th-minute with a goal off the foot of Steryn Woodward.

Salem, which had scored 10 goals in its first two contests, was limited to four shots over the course of the match against the WildCats. Two of those shots, both shots on goal, came from sophomore Darilyn Nieto. The others came from Nathaly Berrezueta and Layla Locklear.

Meanwhile, Randolph countered with 11 shots (eight SOG), and a strong performance in net from Abby Gilbert. Gilbert, who claimed the victory in net, made four saves on the afternoon.

Salem was led in goal by Mireya Sanchez (two saves) and Marissa Doutrich (four), who combined for six saves.

The Spirits open their home schedule on Friday, September 15th, when they host Agnes Scott at Varsity Field at 4 p.m.
