WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Giselle Ramos netted her second goal of the season, following a pass from senior Layla Locklear, but William Peace received seven goals from as many players, earning a 7-1 victory over the Spirits when the two teams clashed at Varsity Field in Winston-Salem, N.C., on Saturday afternoon.

Ramos led the way for the Salem offense, attempting three shots (two shots on goal), while first-year teammate Marissa Doutrich tallied 22 saves to anchor the defense. The 22-save performance by Doutrich equals her single-match season-high, coincidentally a program record, which she set against Southern Virginia (Sept. 27).

The Spirits' offense notched six shots (four shots on goal) over the course of the afternoon, highlighted by Ramos' three. Mireya Sanchez, Nathaly Berrezueta and Layla Locklear were also responsible for one shot for Salem.

The two teams were physical throughout the match, resulting in two yellow cards for William Peace and one against the Spirits, while committing nine fouls apiece.

William Peace capped off the match with 55 shots (29 shots on goal), with nine players attempting at least two shots along the way. Courtney Arnold led the Pacers in both shots (12) and shots on goal (eight), while Emma Avery finished the match with nine shots (six shots on goal). Teammates Dayna Kenworthy and Lyndsey Knox tallied eight and seven shots, respectively.

Of the 55 shots in the match, 29 were in the direction of the goal, for the Pacers. William Peace made 25 shots in the first half and had 30 in the final 45 minutes. Conversely, Salem made 12 saves in the first half and 10 in the second frame.

William Peace put the first goal of the match on the board in the 14th-minute when Shaelyn Webb drove a pass from Kayla Johnson into net. Kenworth quickly stretched the Pacers' lead to 2-0 four minutes later on an unassisted strike.

Ramos cut the lead in half with her goal in the 20th-minute as Locklear dished out the assist to her open teammate. However, Lily Rust pushed the William Peace lead back to two with a goal on a pass from Emma Avery.

Johnson opened second half scoring with a strike in the 59th-minute, with assistance from Mia Rumachik, making for a 4-1 contest. The Pacers offense remained in stride with goals from Avery (64th-minute), Lyndsey Knox (84th) and Courtney Arnold (88th) to account for the remaining goals.
