Tennis beats local rival WSSU

Winston-Salem, NC-The Salem College tennis team beat cross-town rivals Winston-Salem State 5-4 this weekend. The Spirits used two wins from Ayla Pruitt to take the victory. 

"We had a great challenge today against Winston Salem State University," said Head Coach Kevin Fleck."

Pruitt won at # 3 doubles with DeAnna Wilkins and at #6 singles. Andrea Akers won at #1 singles and Samantha Story won at #5 singles. Ashley Koehler and Allie Watkins joined forces to win at # 2 doubles. 

Coach Fleck said, "It was very windy and we had to adjust our games to the elements.  Our team showed a lot of fight and a willingness to tough out a close victory. "
