Decatur, GA-The Salem tennis team played two Great South matches this weekend in Georgia. They prevailed in a 9-0 victory against Wesleyan, before they fell 7-2 to Agnes Scott. The Spirits are now 5-7 overall and 1-2 in the GSAC.
Salem dominated in doubles at Wesleyan. They combined to win those sets 24-3. Andrea Akers, Ashley Koehler, Kerri Morgan, and DeAnna Wilkins all won both singles and doubles. Allie Watkins and Leia Pruitt combined to win #3 doubles. Sam Story and Ayla Pruitt won at #5 and #6 singles.
"We had a solid and focused performance today," said Coach Kevin Fleck about the Wesleyan match. "We are excited about our progress and look forward to finishing our regular season on a strong next over the next week."
In the Agnes Scott match, the Scotties took a 3-0 lead after doubles. Morgan was able to win at #3 singles, and Wilkins won at #4. Agnes Scott clinched the GSAC Regular Season with the win.
Salem will try to improve to .500 in the GSAC next week at home against Wesleyan.
