ATLANTA, Ga. – The Great South Athletic Conference (GSAC) announced the postseason award winners in the sport of women's tennis on Friday night. The Scotties of Agnes Scott swept the major tennis prizes in 2015 with Claire Rinaldo claiming Player of the Year, Maddie Hoffman winning Freshman of the Year and T.J. Greggs capturing Coach of the Year honors.
Claire Rinaldo (pictured at right), a senior from Denver, N.C., played every match this season at No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles for the Scotties. She was a perfect 3-0 in conference singles matches and dropped just one league match in doubles while accruing a 2-1 record. Overall, the senior posted an impressive 8-3 singles record in 2015 to go along with a winning 6-5 mark in doubles action. Her stellar play led the Scotties to an 8-4 mark, good for the top seed in the 2015 GSAC Women's Tennis Tournament.
Maddie Hoffman, a freshman from Mission Viejo, Calif., put together an outstanding freshman season to help Agnes Scott to the No. 1 seed in GSAC postseason. She played all year from the No. 2 singles and doubles positions and proved to be equally effective in each. Hoffman recorded identical 9-2 marks in singles and doubles for a superb 18-4 overall record on the season. In fact, Hoffman's only defeats in the 2015 campaign came at the hands of nationally ranked opponents Emory and Sewanee.
T.J. Greggs just completed his third season at Agnes Scott, a campaign in which he guided the Scotties to an 8-4 overall record and top seed in the 2015 GSAC Tournament. Greggs came to Agnes Scott with extensive experience. Prior to Agnes Scott, Greggs served as the head men's tennis coach at Kennesaw State University. Greggs began his career at Kennesaw in 2006 as the Director of Tennis Operations where he served as the women's head coach. Greggs played tennis at Westminster College, Pa. While there, he was a two-time All-Keystone/Empire Collegiate College performer.
