Decatur, GA-The Salem College tennis team splits games in Georgia this weekend. They defeated Wesleyan 7-2, before falling to Agnes Scott 8-1. Salem is now 4-5 overall and 1-1 in the Great South.
DeAnna Wilkins had the strongest weekend for the Spirits as she went 2-0 at #2 singles and 1-1 in doubles. Ashley Koehler, Allie Watkins, Sabrina Sheikh, and Jacquelyn Lockhart-Andretta all won one singles match.
"Overall we had a good weekend, considering we were without our number one singles player for both matches," said Coach Kevin Fleck. "The team played hard and got better as the matches progressed, even though some of the scores didn't reflect how close many of the games were. I was very proud of DeAnna with her performance and heart out on the court. The team looks forward to competing with Wesleyan and Agnes Scott and improving their results this coming weekend."
The Spirits return to action this weekend when they host Wesleyan and Agnes Scott.
