(FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.) - The USA South Athletic Conference's women's tennis coaches have released their 2017 preseason polls. Each divisional preseason poll only includes votes from coaches within that particular division-only. Head coaches do not vote for their own teams in the balloting. Additionally, the Conference welcomes new League members Agnes Scott College, Salem College and Wesleyan College.

Covenant College, under the direction of Head Coach John Hirte in his fifth year, was selected as the West Division favorite. The Scots were last spring's USA South tournament runners-up. Covenant received 44 total points and six first place votes. Placing second in the poll with 39 points was Huntingdon College. Not far behind in third place was Piedmont College with 38 points and a first place vote as Agnes Scott was fourth with 35 points and the final first place vote to round out the top-half of the poll.

Meredith has already kicked off the women's tennis spring season while the remaining Conference teams will gets underway in the coming weeks.

The 2017 USA South Women's Tennis Tournament will be played April 13-15 in LaGrange, Georgia as a part of the USA South Spring Sports Festival, hosted by the City of LaGrange and Troup County. The tournament will take place both at the McCluskey Tennis Center and the LaGrange College Varsity Courts. The top-four teams from each division will advance to the tournament.
