Volleyball Picks Up their 10th Win of the Season

Winston-Salem, NC-The Salem College volleyball team won two matches at home tonight against Toccoa Falls and Piedmont Baptist College. Salem beat Toccoa Falls in their first match (25-17, 23-25, 25-18, 25-13). Salem beat Piedmont in 3 games (25-12, 25-16, 25-22). This marks the first time in Salem volleyball history that the team reached double digit victories. Salem improves to 10-17 with the two victories.

Christine Tillman (King, NC) had an excellent first match against Toccoa Falls with a team season-high 8 aces. She also provided 11 kills and 12 digs. Katie Lineberger (Maiden, NC) led the team with 13 kills and 2 blocks. Sara Maher (Longmont, CO) had 28 assists to lead the team. Stephanee Thibodeaux (Jacksonville, NC) had a strong match with 11 kills. Khadija Layne (Dorcester, MA) had 11 digs.

In the match against Piedmont Baptist, Lineberger led the way with 18 kills and 3 aces. Jordan Edwards (King, NC) also had 3 aces in the match. Maher again provided the most assists with 29. Layne had the most digs with 5.

Salem returns to action on Friday, October 24th as they host Methodist University at 6:00. This match will be a part of the Dig Pink Campaign, which is a program that gives all of their donations to Breast Cancer research.
