Volleyball loses match to N.C. Wesleyan at home

Winston-Salem, NC-The Salem College volleyball team lost tonight at home to North Carolina Wesleyan (18-25, 14-25, 14-25) in a non-conference match. Khadija Layne (Dorchester, MA) had a strong match for the Spirits with 15 digs, 1 block, and 4 kills. Salem falls to 3-9 with the loss, and N.C. Wesleyan improves to 5-6.

Salem closed the score from 11-19 to 17-21 in the first set, but were unable to come all the way back. Katie O'Leary (Seldova, AK) had a strong match with 4 kills. Sara Maher (Longmont, CO) led the team with 13 assists. Allegra Thomson (Dalzell, SC) had the Spirits only service ace, and Alyssa Alcos (Jacksonville, FL) added 10 digs.

Salem returns to GSAC action this Saturday at 1:00 when they host their first ever GSAC match. The Spirits are 1-1 in conference play and look to improve on their conference record against Georgia Wesleyan.
