Volleyball splits a pair of road GSAC matches

Demorest, GA-The Salem College volleyball team split two Great South conference matches this weekend. The Spirits defeated LaGrange College (25-17, 19-25, 25-13, 22-25, 16-14) and lost to Piedmont College (16-25, 14-25, 16-25). The team also lost a non-conference match at Toccoa Falls on Friday. Salem is now 8-13 overall this season and they improve to 4-2 in the GSAC.

Christine Tillman (King, NC) had a very strong match against LaGrange. She led the team with 23 kills, 3 service aces, and 15 digs. Sara Maher (Longmont, CO) had 49 assists to lead the Spirits and she also had 13 digs. Randi Roppolo (Weeki Wachee, FL) and Keri Nolan (Calabash, NC) also had strong matches against LaGrange. Roppolo had 13 kills and 10 digs, and Nolan had 11 kills.

Tillman had 7 kills and 8 digs against Piedmont. Khadija Layne (Dorchester, MA) had 7 kills and 8 digs. Maher led the Spirits against Piedmont with 17 assists. 

Salem hosts their last home match of the season on October 19th when they place Peace College at 7:00 pm.
