Volleyball splits two away matches

Raleigh, NC-The Salem College volleyball team split two games this week on the road. The Spirits defeated Piedmont Baptist College on Tuesday in four games (25-22, 23-25, 25-10, 25-15). The Spirits lost in Raleigh to the Peace Pacers in four games last night (17-25, 25-21, 25-8, 25-19).  The Spirits are now 3-5 on the season in non-conference play.

Christine Tillman (King, NC) led the Spirits in both matches with 11 kills. Tillman also led the Spirits with 4 blocks against Piedmont Baptist and 2 blocks against Peace. Khadija Layne (Dorchester, MA) led the Spirits with 15 digs against Piedmont Baptist, and Chelsea Jones (Glade Valley, NC) led Salem with 10 digs against Peace. Sara Maher (Longmont, CO) led the Spirits in both matches with 14 assists against Piedmont Baptist and 24 assists against Peace.

The Spirits return to action this weekend when they host Hollins and Virginia Intermont in a tri-match on Saturday.
