Volleyball falls just short at home against Methodist

Winston-Salem, NC-The Salem College volleyball team fell just short against Methodist in a non-conference match losing 2-3 (19-25, 25-19, 22-25, 25-23, 8-15). Chelsea Jones (Glade Valley, NC) led the Spirits with 35 set assists and 14 digs. Salem falls to 3-11 overall.

Methodist jumped out to an early one set lead, but Salem fought back in the 2nd set to tie the match up. The 3rd and 4th sets were extremely tight with both teams splitting. Methodist was able to pull away in the deciding 5th set for the victory.

Michelle Morgan (Chattanooga, TN) led Salem with 14 kills and Roslyn Nixon (Wilson, NC) added 10 kills. Zy Henderson (Spartanburg, SC) led the Spirits with an impressive 24 digs, while Taylor Rhodes (Jamestown, NC) added 13 digs. Olivia Newbern (Barco, NC) led the Spirits with 5 service aces, and Rhodes had 4 aces.

The Spirits return to Great South conference action next week at Wesleyan on Friday.
