Roslyn Nixon wins Great South Volleyball Player of the Week

ATLANTA, Ga. – The Great South Athletic Conference announced the fall sports Players of the Week for all contests played October 13 - 19 and, following voting by the league sports information directors, Wesleyan's Taylor Poole captured Women's Soccer Player of the Week and Roslyn Nixon of Salem won Volleyball Player of the Week.

 

GSAC Women's Soccer Player of the Week – Taylor Poole of Wesleyan

Sophomore Taylor Poole helped Wesleyan to a come from behind win over Warren Wilson last week, scoring all three Wolves goals in the second half of the victory. Wesleyan was down 2-0 at halftime before Poole put the team on her back and pulled off the hat trick.  She now has five goals for the season.

 

GSAC Volleyball Player of the Week – Roslyn Nixon of Salem

Senior opposite Roslyn Nixon had a spectacular week with Salem College volleyball. Not only did she help lead Salem College over Hollins in a 3-0 shutout, but she also came up big in Salem's conference win over Wesleyan. She led the Spirits with 12 kills while hitting .409. She also had 1 block solo, 2 block assists and a service ace in the key match that keeps the Spirits undefeated in conference play.

 

The GSAC sports information directors nominate Player of the Week candidates and then vote on the top two nominees in each sport as selected by the conference office. Player of the Week voting occurs on Tuesdays and the weekly announcement of the winners is released each Wednesday morning.
