Volleyball and Soccer earn number one seed for this weekend's Great South Tournament

Winston-Salem, NC-Salem College will host this weekend's Great South Athletic Conference (GSAC) Soccer and Volleyball Tournaments. Both teams from Salem are the number one seed in their tournament. Schools from across the country will come to Salem to try to secure the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III National Tournament.

The Great South is made up of schools from across the country. The schools participating in this weekend's tournament are: Agnes Scott (Georgia), Finlandia (Michigan), Maine Presque-Isle, Mills (California), Pine Manor (Massachusetts), Trinity (D.C.), and Wesleyan (Georgia).

The Salem volleyball team earned their second straight GSAC Regular Season Title and number one seed. They went 4-0 in the GSAC and 9-13 overall. They open up play on Friday at 2:00 against Trinity. If they win Friday, they will play in the semifinals on Saturday at 1:00. The championship is slated for 5:30 on Saturday.

The soccer team earned their third straight GSAC Regular Season Title as they went 4-0 in the conference and they are 16-4 overall. The Spirits already played their quarterfinal match this past weekend in Baltimore as they cruised to an 8-0 win against Pine Manor. They will play the winner of Mills vs. Maine Presque-Isle in the semifinals on Saturday at 12:30. The championship match will be Sunday at 12:00.
