Volleyball beat Wesleyan 3-0 to advance to championship

​WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (11/08/14) -- First-year Kylie Taffer's game-high 15 kills led Salem College's volleyball team to a 3-0 win over Great South Athletic Conference (GSAC)-foe Wesleyan College. The Spirits' 25-10, 25-19, 25-12 semifinal victory earned them a spot in the conference's championship match to be held later today, at 5:30 p.m.
 
Taffer had only one hitting error on the match and hit an impressive .700. Teammates Hillary McPhatter and Mariah Sharon had seven kills apiece. Taylor Rhodes tallied game-highs in assists (28) and service aces (5). Zykeya Henderson had a game-high 12 digs. Salem hit a combined .329 on the match to Wesleyan's .021. The Spirits amassed 37 kills to their opponent's 22.
 
Diamond Hudson led the Wolves with nine kills. Chermaine Johnson led Wesleyan in hitting (.238).
 
The top-seeded Spirits look to face the winner of Agnes Scott College versus Finlandia University in a 5:30 GSAC Finals match.
