Volleyball expects strong careers from four new players

Winston-Salem, NC-Salem College Volleyball Coach Dana Wall is excited to announce four great additions to the Salem College roster!  With a strong mix of experience and talent, Mariah Sharon, Hillary Prince, Bernisha Masters and Kylie Taffer will represent Salem College Volleyball for the 2014-15 Season.  "I couldn't be more excited about our incoming recruits," says Coach Wall. "Together with our returners, we have the makings of another Conference Championship team"

Salem College Volleyball is happy to introduce the following players:

Mariah Sharon: Outside Hitter from Smithfield , VA

Sharon began playing high school volleyball in the fall season of 2010 as a defensive specialist. in 2011, she joined Hampton Roads Juniors Volleyball Club's 16U team as an outside hitter/middle blocker. Her junior year she started as an outside hitter/defensive specialist on the varsity team, also joining the Peninsula Juniors Volleyball Club for their national team. Entering her senior year, Sharon's leadership attributes earned her selection as Team Captain and she showed her versatility by taking over as the varsity team's primary setter. Sharon intends to major in Biology or Chemistry with a minor in Criminology to enter in the Criminal Justice field as a career.

Hillary Prince: Outside Hitter/Middle Blocker from Winston-Salem, NC

Hillary Prince-Hillary played High School volleyball at Mt.Tabor and R.J. Reynolds.  In high school she lettered in soccer, volleyball and basketball

She was named All-Conference, All-County and All-Region in volleyball. She attended Methodist University, where as a sophomore libero was named USA South Defensive Player of the Week. Hillary coached the middle school and highschool programs at Winston-Salem Christian School. Hillary also was the JV head and assistant Varsity volleyball coach at South Stokes High School. She also has worked with the Jerry Long and William G. White Jr. YMCA's volleyball programs. She currently coaches with the Champion Volleyball Club.

Bernisha Masters: Middle Blocker from Brawley, California

 Masters attended Brawley Union High School, where she played Varsity volleyball for my sophomore and junior year; she was awarded defensive player of the year twice. For her senior year, she attended Douglas Byrd High School in Fayetteville, NC where she was on the Varsity team and was awarded most valuable player and Cape Fear Valley All Conference player of the year.

Kylie Taffer: Middle Blocker from Merritt Island Florida

Kylie has played volleyball for 5 years and is excited to continue that journey in college. She was the captain for two years on her high school team and was named to the All-County team in 2013. Taffer was named Offensive MVP in 2012 and 2013. She enjoys reading, listening to The Shins, and hanging out with my family and friends.
