Volleyball splits conference games in Georgia

Decatur, GA-The Salem College volleyball team split two matches in Georgia this weekend to start 1-1 in Great South action. The Spirits defeated Georgia Wesleyan 3-0 (25-12, 25-13, 25-9). They fell in three sets at Agnes Scott (18-25, 11-25, 16-25). Salem moves to 2-6 overall.

In the Wesleyan win, Mariah Sharon had a strong match leading the team with 10 kills and 6 digs. Brandy Bednorz had 19 set assists, and she also had 5 service aces. Bernisha Master added 7 kills as the Spirits cruised to the win.

Sharon and Kylie Taffer each had 7 kills against Agnes Scott. Master led the team with 2 service aces, and Sharon had 9 digs. Bednorz had 18 set assists against the Scotties.

The Spirits return home on Tuesday night when they host Guilford in non-conference play at 7:00.
