Volleyball battles hard in home loss to Hollins

Winston-Salem, NC-The Salem College volleyball team played a back and forth match with Hollins tonight and came up just short at the end. Hollins won 3-1 (18-25, 25-21, 25-27, 19-25). Brandy Bednorz had one of her best nights of the year with 48 assists. The Spirits fall to 2-9, while Hollins improves to 3-14.

After Hollins won the first set, the last three sets could have gone either way as they were close to the end. Kylie Taffer had 23 kills with a .377 hitting percentage. Bernisha Master had 13 kills with a .357 hitting percentage, and Mariah Sharon had 16 kills and a .213 percentage. Julissa Almonte led the Spirits with 18 digs, while Sharon had 17. Taffer and Master each had 1 solo block, and Bednorz led the team with 3 service aces.

The Spirits don't have much time to rest as they travel to Fayetteville tomorrow to take on Methodist at 7:00.
