Volleyball improves at Hollins

Roanoke, VA-The Salem College volleyball team improved on an earlier match this season against Hollins, but Hollins was able to squeak out the win in the end. The game went to a decisive fifth set that Hollins pulled out for the 3-2 win (25-17, 23-25, 13-25, 25-22, 11-15). Marah Sharon and Kylie Taffer each had strong matches for the Spirits with 17 kills each. Salem falls to 3-14, while Hollins improves to 4-19 overall.

Salem played Hollins earlier this year and lost 3-1. They came out on fire and cruised to a 25-17 first set win. Hollins was able to take the next two sets, before Salem forced a decisive fifth set. 

Brandy Bednorz had a very strong 42 set assists. Hannah Ogle led the team with 16 digs, while Sharon added 14 digs. Taffer, Sharon, and Julissa Almonte all had 2 block assists.

The Spirits play their final regular season match at Guilford on Friday at Guilford.
