Volleyball splits against LaGrange and Pensacola Christian

LaGrange, GA-The Salem College volleyball team split two games today at LaGrange. In a USA South back and forth matchup, LaGrange was able to pull away in the decisive fifth set for the 3-2 victory (13-25, 25-20, 25-23, 16-25, 15-11). Salem controlled the entire match against PC and won 3-0 (25-17, 25-21, 25-17). Salem is now 9-17 overall, while LaGrange is 17-10 and PC is 5-12.

Salem jumped out to an early set lead after a dominating first set against LaGrange. LaGrange was able to take the second and third, before Salem fought back for the fourth. In the fifth set, LaGrange jumped out to a 10-2 lead, before Salem mounted a furious comeback that fell just short. 

For the day, Hannah Delcamp led the Spirits with 84 set assists, including 49 against LaGrange. In two matches, Delcamp broke the set assist single match record twice in a row. The past record was 48, and Delcamp broke it against both Agnes Scott and LaGrange. 

Kylie Taffer led the team with 25 kills and Taylor Moulton added 22. Mariah Sharon had 31 digs for the day to lead the team.

The Spirits return all the way to North Carolina tomorrow when they host Wesleyan in a USA South match at noon. The game will also be the "Royal Rush" game hosted by Salem's S.A.A.C.
