Volleyball splits first day at Eastern Mennonite Invite

Harrisonburg, VA- The Salem College volleyball team split their first two games of the season at the Eastern Mennonite University Invite. Salem defeated Eastern Mennonite after falling to Catholic. Hannah Delcamp picked up her career 1,000th set assist in the second match. Salem is now 1-1 overall.

Salem lost 3-1 to Catholic (24-26, 25-20, 16-25, 20-25). The Spirits had control of the first set before Catholic stormed back to take it. Salem cruised through the second set, before Catholic was able to take the final two for the win. Taylor Moulton led the team with 13 kills, while Kathryn O'Connell had 8 and Kylie Taffer had 9. Lauren Holman led the team with 19 set assists, and Delcamp had 18. Maggie Hawks had a team high 26 digs and Bernisha Master had 2 solo blocks and 6 block assists.

The Spirits came back in their second game to cruise to a 3-0 (25-19, 25-22, 25-21) win against the hosts of EMU. Taffer led the team with 7 kills, while Moulton, O'Connell, and Cameron Sloop all had 6 kills. Delcamp led the team with 12 set assists and Holman had 10. Hawks led the team with 16 digs.

Salem returns to action today at EMU against Lynchburg and Mary Baldwin.
