Volleyball goes 1-1 in day two of EMU Invite

Harrisonburg, VA-The Salem College volleyball team finished the EMU Invite with an even record after splitting during day two of the event. Salem fell to Lynchburg, before they defeated Mary Baldwin. The Spirits are now 2-2 for the season.

Salem came out strong against Lynchburg taking the first set and coming very close to winning the second. Lynchburg was able to win 3-1 (25-18, 30-32, 19-25, 23-25). Kylie Taffer had 10 kills, Taylor Moulton had 9, and Madelyn Chappell had 8. Kathryn O'Connell led the team with a .333 kill percentage. Hannah Delcamp had 22 set assists and Lauren Holman had 18. Maggie Hawks led the team with 27 digs and Moulton had 22. Bernisha Master led the team with 1 solo block and 6 block assists.

The Spirits had no issues with Mary Baldwin as they cruised to a 3-0 win (25-16, 25-9, 25-17). Delcamp had 18 assists and Holman had 11. Cameron Sloop had 12 digs and 8 kills. Taffer led the team with 9 kills. 

Salem returns to action next weekend in Salem, Va with four matches at the 2017 Roanoke College Maroon Classic.
