Volleyball Rally Falls Just Short Against Brevard

Winston-Salem, NC-The Salem College volleyball team is off to their best start in school history, but tonight's rally in the season home opener  fell just short. Brevard was able to hang on for a 3-2 win. Salem falls to 6-4, while Brevard improves to 3-1.

Brevard jumped out to a 2-0 lead after winning a close first set 25-23 and the second set 25-17. The Spirits didn't give up and fought their way back with 25-22 wins in both the third and fourth set. The deciding set was a back and forth affair with Brevard edging the Spirits 15-13 for the match win.

Kylie Taffer led the team with 17 kills and Kathryn O'Connell added 10 kills. The Spirits were down to just one setter tonight due to injury, and Hannah Delcamp stepped up with 40 set assists. She also led the team with 32 digs, while Taylor Moulton had 31 and Maggie Hawks had 23. Taffer and O'Connell combined for 4 block assists each. Mariah Sharon led the Spirits with 3 service aces.

The Spirits remain home on Saturday as they host Agnes Scott and Johnson & Wales (Charlotte).
