Maggie Hawks wins third defender of the week honor

Volleyball Player of the Week
Ginny Moore, Covenant - The senior outside hitter from Fort Myers, Florida averaged 4.42 kills and 5.92 digs per set as the Scots posted a 3-0 record last week versus USA South competition. Moore notched double-doubles in each of the three matches. In a 3-1 win over Maryville, Moore tallied 19 kills, 26 digs and one block. In a 3-1 victory over LaGrange, Moore posted 14 kills, 19 digs and three blocks. Finally, in a 3-1 win over Piedmont, Moore totaled 20 kills, 26 digs and five service aces. Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week
Maggie Hawks, Salem - The freshman libero from Mt. Airy, North Carolina averaged 8.18 digs per set as the Spirits posted a 3-0 record last week versus USA South competition. In a 3-1 win over Methodist, Hawks set a new single-match program record with 43 digs to go along with one service ace. In a 3-1 victory over Ferrum, Hawks posted 26 digs and six assists. Finally in a 3-0 win over N.C. Wesleyan, Hawks contributed 21 digs. Also Nominated: Kaitlyn Flickinger, Maryville; Tori Belcher, Greensboro; Haley Hixon, Piedmont; Katie Keen, Meredith; Emily Stanley, Averett.

Volleyball Rookie of the Week
Callie Cline, N.C. Wesleyan - The freshman outside hitter from Stanfield, North Carolina averaged 2.40 kills and 6.10 digs per set as the Battling Bishops posted a 1-2 record last week versus USA South competition. In a 3-0 loss to William Peace, Cline tallied five kills, 12 digs and one assist. In a 3-1 victory over Ferrum, Cline notched a double-double with 13 kills and 29 digs to go along with five assists, two service aces and one block. Finally, in a 3-0 loss to Salem, Cline totaled six kills, 20 digs, two assists and one block. Also Nominated: Danyale Berry, Greensboro; Lauren Espinal, Maryville; McKenzie Miller, Averett; Kathryn O'Connell, Salem; Lauren Phillips, Meredith; Amy Tyma, Huntingdon; Jenna Wendel, Piedmont.
