Volleyball picks up two important USA South wins

Winston-Salem, NC-The Salem College volleyball team beat Ferrum and N.C. Wesleyan in two important USA South East Division this weekend. The Spirits defeated Ferrum easily 3-0 (25-9, 25-23, 25-9) and N.C. Wesleyan 3-1 (25-15, 23-25, 25-19, 25-15). The Spirits are now 17-8 overall, while Wesleyan falls to 6-15 and Ferrum falls to 3-17.

Madelyn Chappell and Taylor Moulton each led the Spirits with 10 kills against Ferrum. Hannah Delcamp led the Spirits with 21 set assists. Maggie Hawks had a team-high 18 digs and Moulton had 16 digs. Bernisha Master had 2 solo blocks and 3 block assists. Mariah Sharon had an impressive 4 service aces against Ferrum.

Chappell and Kathryn O'Connell each had 11 kills to lead the Spirits against N.C. Wesleyan. Delcamp and Lauren Holman 22 set assists, and O'Connell had a strong 5 service aces. Hawks let the team with 25 digs and Moulton had 21 digs. 

The Spirits have four home matches this week starting with Mary Baldwin on Tuesday at 7:00.
