Volleyball Wins Home Opener Over Averett 3-2

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Salem College volleyball team won a nail-biter over Averett in the home opener. Salem took the first two sets, but Averett battled back and won the next two to force a fifth set. The Spirits were able to separate themselves in the final set and get the win on their home court.

The two teams went into extra points in every set except the final two as neither team would give the other a late set run. Salem's early wins came at 26-24 in the opening set and 29-27 in the second. The fifth set the teams would tie at 8-8 with neither team able to gain a steady advantage. The Spirits would then outscore the Cougars 7-2 in the last 10 points to take the fifth set in front of the home fans. 

Salem Standouts

Hannah Delcamp continued to distribute the ball well getting credit for 29 assists to go along with 12 digs.

Salem connected on 100 digs in the match with Maggie Hawks and Alexis Sunderland taking the top two spots.
