Catherine Head became the head volleyball coach for the Salem College in July of 2018. She finished her first season as head coach with a 12-17 overall record.

Coach Head played high school basketball, softball, and volleyball at RB Glenn High School in Kernersville, NC and club volleyball at Piedmont in Greensboro, NC. Coach Head competed at Elon University where she was a middle blocker for her four-year experience. She was a fierce competitor on the front row where she tallied 263 blocks.

"I am so excited to be working in my hometown at an institution that empowers all of its students," said Coach Head. "This town is where I found volleyball and the community that helped me so much and now it is my turn to give back to the game and my community. I am so thankful for this opportunity with Salem College."

Head brings knowledge of the game to the Spirits for the 2018 season after most recently spending the 2018 season as the assistant coach at Brevard College. Before Brevard Coach Head also spent time at Greensboro College which offers a wealth of knowledge of the USA South Conference in which the Spirits compete.

Head earned a bachelor of science in exercise science from Elon University and a master of science in recreational sports management with a concentration in intercollegiate athletic administration from Western Kentucky University.
