Cross Country Gears Up for a Successful Season

The Salem College Cross-Country Team is gearing up for their second season in the NCAA. As the first true recruiting class of Salem College Cross-Country arrives, the future is bright and exciting. Sophomore Rachel Fichthorn (Nokesville, VA) will be returning as the team captain of the 2006 squad. Rachel Aderholdt (North Augusta, GA) and Mae Sanders (Winston-Salem, NC) will be seniors and will help guide the incoming first year student-athletes.

Ariel Barker (Monroe, NC), Julie Bigsby (Salisbury, NC), Amber Lankford (Mt. Airy, NC) and Lauren Meek (Draper, VA) will join the cross country team as first-year student-athletes. All of these student-athletes will make a positive impact for Salem College right away.

After the cross-country team travels to the Campbell University Invitational on September 2, Salem College will be hosting the Piedmont X-C Classic and the Salem College X-C Invitational on September 9 and 16.

“We are excited about the talented student-athletes that our cross-country team is comprised of. Each individual has a great personality and attitude. This is sure to be a fun season with much success and many smiles.”
