September 2- The Salem College Cross Country Team traveled to Campbell University in Buies Creek, NC Saturday to open their 2006 season.
The Spirit Harriers won the overall team title for NCAA Division II and III race, finishing ahead of NC Wesleyan College, Mt. Olive College and Peace College. Sophomore Rachel Fichthorn (Nokesville, VA) won the individual title by covering the hilly 4K distance in 16:55. Lauren Meek (Draper, VA) finished second in her first collegiate race with a time of 17:34. Julie Bigsby of Salisbury, NC was 6th (19:14), Rachel Aderholdt of North Augusta, GA was 8th (20:00), Mae Sanders of Winston-Salem, NC was 9th (20:13), and Ariel Barker of Monroe, NC was 13th (21:25).
 

 

The Spirit Harriers will host the Piedmont Cross-Country Classic next Saturday on the campus of Salem College.
