Cross Country finishes strong at Guilford Carnival

Winston-Salem, NC- The Salem College cross country team finished in fourth of nine teams at the Guilford College Carnival. Julie Piernikowski (Potomac, MD) led the Spirits on the 6k course in a time of 27:58. She finished in 18th of 70 runners at the meet. Salem had five personal records in the meet.

Lauren Meek (Draper, VA) came in 23rd overall in a time of 28:27. Stephanie Mendez (Atlanta, GA) ran a personal record of 28:56 and finished third for the Spirits. Julie Bigsby (Salisbury, NC) finished in 33rd in a time of 29:44. Emily Abel (Otto, NC), Samantha Styers (Walnut Cove, NC), Catherine Mixon (Simpsonville, SC), and Kaycee Ingram (Mt. Ulla, NC) all ran their personal best 6k races.

Salem returns to action next week when they run in the Citadel Invitational in Charleston, SC.
