Cross Country breaks records at the Asics/Winthrop CC Invitational

Winthrop Farm, SC-The Salem College cross country team set three personal records and two season best runs in the Asics/Winthrop Invitational today. The Spirits ran against mainly NCAA Division I and Division II competition in the meet. Julie Piernikowski (Potomac, MD) finished in 107th overall and first for the Spirits in the five-kilometer meet with a time of 22:07.

Natali Olveda (Litchfield Park, AZ) finished in second for the Spirits and 123rd overall in a time of 22:45. Olveda and Stephanie Mendez (Atlanta, GA) had season best races today. Bethany Eaton (State Road, NC) was third for the Spirits in a personal record run of 24:12. Joanna Mills (Cary, NC) and Kristen McLaurin (Columbia, SC) also broke their personal record in the meet. The Spirits finished in 18th overall as a team. 

Salem returns to action next weekend when they travel to Charleston, SC for the Citadel Invitational on September 25th.
