Cross country finishes in 24th at South/Southeast Region Championship

Memphis, TN-The Salem College cross country team finished in 24th at the NCAA South/Southeast Region Championship hosted by Rhodes College. Stephanie Mendez (Atlanta, GA) was the top runner for the Spirits and finished the 6K course in 112th place (26:13). Salem finished their season by avenging a Great South Championship loss against Spelman College, who finished in 25th.

Mendez ran a season best 6K in the meet. Natali Olveda (Litchfield Park, AZ) and Bethany Eaton (State Road, NC) finished back to back in the meet. Olveda finished in 144th (27:56) and Eaton was 145th (28:02).

Joanna Mills (Cary, NC) was fourth for the Spirits and 161st overall (30:36). Akaya McElveen (New Haven, CT) rounded out the top five for the Spirits. Jessica Butner (Mocksville, NC) joined Olveda, Eaton, and McElveen with personal records.

Rhodes was the overall winner of the meet, and Tess Gallegos from Emory University was the top runner (21:51).
