Classes of 2012 and 2014 Win First-Annual Salem College SAAC Powderpuff Game

Winston-Salem, NC-The classes of 2012 and 2014 (Team Awesome) defeated the

powderpuffchamps
classes of 2013 and 2015, 24-6, in the first ever Salem College Student Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC) Powderpuff Game today at the Salem Soccer Field. The game was a fundraiser as part of the NCAA Division III initiative of raising money towards the Special Olympics.

SAAC was able to raise close to $100 to donate to the Forsyth County Special Olympics. Lisa Kiser, the Forsyth County Special Olympics Coordinator, was a special guest at the game. Student athletes from all 7 of the NCAA sports sponsored at Salem played in the game, as well as traditional non-athletes.

Mike Hollman, assistant soccer coach, was the head referee, and the event was coordinated by SAAC President Sabrina Thiel, SAAC Coordinator Sara McCormack, and SAAC Representative MacKenzie Schmidt. Jojo Hall was the captain of Team Awesome. The game was scoreless at halftime.

M&M Engraving donated the trophy and The Juice Shop donated free smoothies to the champions.
