The Great South Athletics Conference has released the final Presidents Cup standings for 2012-13 and Salem College narrowly topped Huntingdon for the title.
The Salem College cross country team continues to improve in the 2nd complete season for Head Coach Jamie Williams. The Spirits finished in 2nd place in the Great South Athletic Conference Championships, falling by just 1 point to the host Jaguars of Spelman.

The Jaguars finished in 1st with 27 points and Salem finished 1 point behind with 28. Natali Olveda (Salinas, CA) and Cristi Magracia (Lemon Grove, CA) both made the GSAC All-Conference team with their efforts.
The Salem College cross country team is set to head to Georgia for the Great South Championships this weekend. The race will be hosted by Spelman College at the Boundary Water Parks on October 27th at 9:00 a.m. The Spirits will compete against Spelman College, Wesleyan College, and Huntingdon College for the title.
The Salem College cross country team competed in the Christopher Newport 6K today and finished in 15th place. Natali Olveda (Salinas, CA) once again was the top Salem runner in the race. She has finished 1st for the Spirits in every meet this year.
The Salem College cross country team finished in 3rd of 4 teams at the Wilbur Ross 5K Invitational hosted by Winston-Salem State. Natali Olveda (Salinas, CA) finished in 7th overall in 22:01.20. The Spirits averaged 24:38.75 on the course.
The Salem College cross country team traveled to the Charlotte Invitational, and finished 13th in the Green 6K Women's Division. Natali Olveda (Salinas, CA) ran her personal best race and finished in 53rd in the division in 26:25.06.
The Salem College cross country team finished in 3rd place at the Warren Wilson Invitational, and they defeated Toccoa Falls College on the 5k course. Natali Olveda (Salina, CA) was the top finisher for the Spirits on the hilly course. She finished the course in 23:42, which was good enough for 4th overall.
The Salem College cross country team placed in 5th of 6
teams at the Catawba Meet. The Spirits defeated a NCAA DII team, Livingstone College, in the meet. Natali Olveda (Salinas, CA) was the first runner for the Spirits in the 5K race.
The Salem College cross country team started the season by defeating last year's Great South Athletic Conference (GSAC) Champions, Piedmont College, at the USC-Upstate Eye Opener 5K. Salem and Piedmont were the only 2 NCAA DIII teams in the meet. Natali Olveda (Salinas, CA) finished 1st for the Spirits and 86th overall out of 195 in a time of 22:38.60.
