Cross country achieves personal records at Greensboro XC Invitational

Greensboro, NC-The Salem College cross country team competed at the Greensboro Invitational 5K this past weekend. The Spirits finished in 17th overall and 4th out of 5 NCAA DIII programs in the meet. Five out of the six Salem runners had their personal records on the muddy 5K course. Janine Bardell as the first Salem runner across the line and 64th overall.

Bardell finished in 23:03.7, which was an average of 7:25 per mile. The next Salem runner was Giseline Martinez Ponce. She finished in 85th place in 24:53.5. Elizabeth Penley finished in third for Salem and 91st overall (26:02.9). Rebecca Locklear and Julie McGhee rounded out the top five for Salem. 

The Spirits will run in the Adidas Invitational next weekend.
