Salisbury, NC-The Salem College cross country team finished their first meet of the year much like all their meets last year with Janine Bardell as their top runner. Running the 5K meet at Catawba, the Spirits found themselves up against mainly NCAA DII opponents and finished 10th overall.

Bardell finished in 34th overall in the meet with a time of 23:31.97. The next Spirit across the line was Meghan Menard (25:42.40), which was 49th overall. Newcomer Hannah Ross was Salem's third finisher in her first meet and 57th overall. Giseline Martinez Ponce was fourth and Taylor Mabe rounded out the scorers for Salem as their fifth finisher. 

Salem will return to action this Friday at Barton in Wilson, NC.
