Cross country earns 9th place finish in Greensboro

Greensboro, NC-The Salem College cross country team finished in ninth overall at the 33rd Annual Greensboro XC Invitational. More importantly, the Spirits were first out of three USA South schools competing in the meet as they defeated Ferrum and North Carolina Wesleyan. Janine Bardell was the first Spirit runner across the line on the 5K course at Hagan Stone Park.

Bardell finished in 39th overall in 22:40.51. She was the fifth NCAA DIII runner across the finish line. Meghan Menard was the second runner across the line for Salem and 57th overall in 24:38.90. Jessica Bailey came in two  runners later in 24:48.12. Arlene Perez and Taylor Mabe finished off the top five runners for Salem.

The Spirits will take a weekend off before they head to Piedmont College on October 8th for the USA South preview meet.
