Greensboro, NC-The Salem College cross country team finished in 2nd out of 6 NCAA DIII teams at the 34th Annual Greensboro Cross Country Invitational this weekend. The Spirits defeated USA South opponents North Carolina Wesleyan, Ferrum, and William Peace in the meet. Salem averaged a 24:19 time for their top five runners in the 5K event.
Janine Bardell was the fifth overall runner in the meet in a time of 22:05. Jessica Bailey came in just after Bardell in sixth place in 23:10. The next Spirit across the line was Hannah Ross in 15th in 24:18. Una Stroszcek came in just two places later in 25:05. Arlene Perez rounded out the top five for Salem in 25th place in 26:57.
Bardell, Perez, and Alyssa Bozak (27:52) all ran their personal records in the meet. The Spirits return to action next weekend at the USA South Preview Meet in Demorest, GA.
